Mentoring Program – Lancaster County / SAIL Initiative
Systems Aligned in Learning (SAIL) is a five-partner collaborative that focuses on pre-school children cared for by home-based childcare providers in Lancaster County. SAIL partners Luthercare, the Library System of Lancaster County (LSLC), Lancaster County Council of Churches (LCCC), the Mid-State Regional Key and COBYS provide programs, services and resources, free of charge, with the goal of ensuring that these children receive the same academic and developmental supports as children who attend center-based childcare.
SAIL was born thanks to a collective impact grant from the United Way of Lancaster County, and continues to receive United Way funding. In addition, The Steinman Foundation and Lancaster County Community Foundation have provided critical support.
SAIL is available to support in-home child care providers throughout Lancaster County.
To date, SAIL is the only program in Lancaster County that goes directly to the provider’s home to provide comprehensive training to the home-based provider and to deliver services to the children in their care.
Mentoring opportunities are offered year round. There are two mentors available to support your center – Melissa Salgado and Lori Muschlitz!
